Wilderness, water, wildlife – hunting on Canada’s Pacific coast

Vancouver Island is a paradise for black bear hunters. Located off Canada’s west coast, the island has the highest density of black bears in the world. Hunting is conducted in cooperation with experienced outfitters who manage a 3,000 square mile area.

Hunting takes place in spring (April–June) or fall (October–November). In spring, bears seek fresh greens and coastal seafood; in fall, they gather at salmon streams.

Travel is via Vancouver and Campbell River, followed by boat or quad transfer to remote hunting areas. Hunts are conducted as spot-and-stalk – either from boats or on foot.

Accommodation is in lodges or on comfortable hunting boats. Guiding is 1:1. In addition to hunting, Vancouver Island offers spectacular nature experiences – from whale watching to rainforest hikes.
