Quiet footsteps, maximum freedom of movement, and camouflage that blends into the fall forest. Andreas Binder, head of Gear and Outfits, explains why the new Silence Collection is the first clothing line developed specifically to meet the demands of stalking.
Mr. Binder, you refer to the new Silence Collection as a collection for the “supreme discipline of hunting.” Why is that?
Stalking places particularly high demands on the hunter. Unlike when hunting from a blind, you actively move through the hunting grounds and try to get as close to the game as possible. Every step counts. A snapping branch, rustling clothing, or an unnatural silhouette can be enough to give you away. That’s exactly why we wanted to develop a collection that supports the hunter as best as possible in this situation.
Was that the catalyst for developing the Silence Collection?
Absolutely. For years, we’ve observed that stalking is becoming increasingly important for many hunters. At the same time, until now there have been very few clothing solutions consistently designed to meet the specific demands of this type of hunting. Many products offer weather protection or mobility, but rarely both in combination with minimal noise. Our goal was therefore clear: to create a collection that brings hunters closer to their game than ever before.
At the heart of the collection is the new Silent Motion Technology. What’s behind it?
It’s a combination of materials we developed ourselves. We combine durable, woven fabrics in areas subject to particularly heavy wear with low-noise fleece knit materials in areas where movement is most intense. This creates what we call “Silent Zones,” where friction noise is significantly reduced. At the same time, the clothing remains durable, weatherproof, and comfortable. Hunters thus benefit from low noise levels without having to compromise on protection or durability.
How important is silence to hunting success?
Extremely important. Often, a single sound can actually determine whether a hunt is successful or not. That’s why we’ve designed every detail of the collection to minimize noise – from the materials to the cut.
In addition to the fabrics, there’s also a new camouflage pattern: Silence Camo.
That’s right. Our new Silence Camo was developed specifically for the colors and lighting conditions of the fall forest. Our goal wasn’t simply to design yet another camouflage pattern. Rather, we wanted to visually break up the hunter’s silhouette and allow him to blend harmoniously with his surroundings. The pattern specifically plays on the natural contrasts, textures, and color gradients of fall vegetation.
You’re launching three different jackets. What’s the difference between them?
Andreas Binder: The Silence 2L Jacket is our flagship model for demanding weather conditions. It combines elastic 2-layer stretch fleece with particularly durable stretch materials in the shoulder and upper arm areas. The result is a jacket that’s not only quiet but also fully waterproof and seam-sealed. At the same time, it offers tremendous freedom of movement. The Rotation Jacket, on the other hand, is an ultra-quiet reversible jacket with two different camouflage options. Its zone-based material design ensures a high level of comfort. And in the Sherpa Jacket, a functional stretch lining reliably wicks moisture away from the body. We’re particularly proud of the Sherpa Jacket’s jacquard weaving technique. The new Silence Camo isn’t printed on the fabric – it’s woven directly into the material. This gives the jacket a special depth and sense of quality.
If you had to describe the collection in one sentence, what would it be?
Andreas Binder: The Silence collection is made for hunters who know that when stalking game, it’s often not the next step that matters, but how quietly you take it.
