Good to Know

Safety when handling a hunting rifle is always the top priority. This is where the Blaser R8 scores highly with its outstanding features, explains Thomas Macher, Chief Technology Officer.

What makes the Blaser R8 so safe?

The rifle is cocked manually immediately before firing. Only by consciously operating the manual cocking mechanism is the hunting rifle put into a state in which a shot can be fired in an orderly manner. Conversely, an uncocked weapon cannot fire. Designs of this type are also referred to as weapons with “direct safeties.”

What is the advantage for the shooter?

They know exactly when their rifle is ready to fire. The positioning of the manual cocking mechanism on the weapon prevents accidental activation. This makes the Blaser R8 unbeatably safe and comfortable to use. For example, it is possible to safely test the rifle on the driven hunt stand or try out where it sits best in the hunting blind.

Are there any other advantages?

In my opinion, there is one very decisive advantage: we take a holistic view of safety, which means that we apply our uncompromising quality standards right from the research and development stage. The selection of high-quality materials is just as important as the functionality of a component. This results in original components that our customers can rely on. Often for their entire hunting life.
