Ireland is not only known for its green landscapes and friendly people, but also for having one of the best sika deer populations in Europe. Hunting takes place in the spectacular nature of County Kerry – with rugged mountains, moss-covered forests and vast uplands.
The season starts in September with the sika rut, marked by high-pitched whistles and intense fights. Stalking is mostly done on foot, but can also take place in the lowlands.
In addition to sika, wild goats, red deer and woodcock can be hunted. From January, hind hunting is also possible – ideal for groups.
Hunts are usually guided 2:1. Accommodation and meals are individually selectable – from comfortable hotels to simple B&Bs.
